If I had the power to change one law, it would be to implement strict regulations against misinformation and political propaganda, ensuring that every citizen has access to unbiased, fact-based information before making decisions.
Too often, power overrules knowledge, and we end up with incompetent leaders. Education and knowledge should be the foundation of leadership, ensuring that those in power make informed, rational, and progressive decisions for the betterment of society.
In high school, we were taught history and passionately debated progressive ideas—equality, inclusivity, and justice. We often criticized older generations for their outdated beliefs, convinced that we could create a better future. Yet, 20 years later, we have moved backward instead of forward. The very ideas we once opposed have only grown stronger—not because people willingly chose them, but because misinformation and propaganda have reshaped public perception.
Politics is no longer about informed choices but about manipulation. With manipulative media selling fake news and digital platforms amplifying biased narratives, misinformation spreads faster than ever, drowning out rational discourse. The same extreme ideologies that were once rejected have now taken center stage, rewriting history to fit their agenda.
We were taught history to learn from past mistakes, yet today, history itself is being rewritten. Will future generations see through the deception, or will they inherit a world where truth no longer matters?
Our greatest failure is not just in bringing change but in staying engaged and holding leaders accountable. When people lack access to the truth, their votes become tools of manipulation rather than instruments of democracy. Politics has turned into a marketing game where lies overpower facts, and public trust is exploited.
To fix this, we need a law that holds politicians accountable for spreading false information, ensures fact-checking of major political claims, and prevents the misuse of media to manipulate voters.
Only when people have access to the truth can they make choices that truly reflect the future they want for their country.
